behind our web & graphic design

The founder and owner of Dreamfields,
Basil Wilson, has a long history in various fields
of creativity. He started Cherry Concept & Design in 1991, which, with the advent of the Internet, morphed into Dreamfields Webcraft & Design to accommodate new electronic services of web site design and email marketing.

"Design is often confused with art. They're not the same thing at all, and not just in the obvious sense. The role of design (click for our philosophy) is simply to present a company's message in a way that a target market is willing to receive. In itself, design doesn't strictly sell anything; it’s purpose is to meet a prospective customer on his wavelength, to get his attention long enough to read the text that a copywriter has produced — the sales pitch.

"In our studio, personal taste — either our own or that of a client — has little to do with the direction we take on a web site design or print project. We design for our clients' customers. What will communicate with them? What will make them reach for our clients' products or services?"

We use Dreamfields not just for our
own web design and graphic design needs, but for many of our clients as well.
If you want aesthetic design, done under pressure with tight deadlines and non corporate budgets, I could not recommend a studio more highly."

Not only is your service very quick, but your products truly embody the term "professionalism." The communication in everything you have done for us reflects an intimate understanding of what we most need to tell our audience.

Since using your services I simply trust and know that our marketing and advertising needs will be met with integrity. Thank you!"

modus operandi

A client gives us a description of a company's design requirements and we'll probably ask a lot of questions to get a good grasp of the client's company culture. We submit a free quotation within 48 hours.

Production begins when all written materials (usually in Notepad and provided on disk or e-mailed) and photographs or graphics (those we are not providing ourselves) are received in the studio.

Dreamfields is known for a fast turnaround time
and a client receives the first stage proofing shortly afterwards. Corrections and alterations are done and our client receives the second stage proofing. At this point there should be little left to do barring general fine tuning. (An hourly surcharge is levied for major alterations beyond this phase.)

The final stage is delivery, be it printed material, a cd, posting to the Internet ...

The simplest and most effective approach
to web design or graphic design
is to view it
as being no more and no less than an exercise in communication. Regular, everyday communication.

Most people know that the way you dress, for example, communicates something about you. Without saying a word about yourself, your character or experience, the image you project
tells people something. One can dress in a manner that says you are successful, or a little wild and youthful, or down to earth, approachable, aloof
and superior in standard — you name it.

Design is how you dress your business. Design is how you dress your product or service in a newsletter, an advert, leaflet or brochure. Design is how you present your company to your prospective customers.

Not a lot of design studios understand this and fewer know how to apply it. So you end up with too much design, like too much makeup or aftershave. Or an exciting image that is actually "out of character". There's more to graphic & web design than just using a nice picture somewhere.

Dreamfields has marketing awareness and experience, and does web site design and graphic design right.
